Open Farm Sunday set to be a great day out at Daynes Farm, near Totnes

Open Farm Sunday set to be a great day out at Daynes Farm, near Totnes

Farmer David Camp and his family will welcome the public to Daynes Farm near Harberton, Totnes on Sunday 10th June from 11am – 4pm. As the farming industry’s annual open day, it offers a fantastic chance for people to discover real farming at first hand and see for themselves how their food (and much more besides) is produced.

The programme includes the opportunity to see the cows, sheep, goats, chickens and chicks on this organic holding and activities include sheep shearing demonstrations, spinning, tractor and trailer rides, farm walks at 12 noon and 2pm and children’s quiz and craft activities.

Also on hand will be an agronomist and a vet to answer queries on crop and animal husbandry. The local Young Farmers’ Club members are helping out as guides and there will be a barbeque, drinks and cakes available to buy on the day.

Farmer David Camp said “We’re looking forward to welcoming the public to the farm for our second Open Farm Sunday. I hope we can help people understand more about farming, food production and how we grow our crops and look after livestock whilst maintaining the environment.”

Diane Lethbridge from South Devon AONB said “David and his family have put a lot of work into staging Open Farm Sunday, it will be a fantastic showcase for the farming industry and great day out for the public.”

The event is free of charge and will be signposted from the A381 Totnes – Harbertonford Road. For further info please click here for attached flyer.
